Order Coleoptera

Weevil, AustraliaWhat on earth is a weevil ? Well, it is a strange looking creature with a long snout. You hardly even notice the weevil, but they are there. Gnawing away at the barks of trees, especially fruit trees ( it's their favourite). If you look closely at the branches of fruit trees and you can see little nicks out of the bark, you have weevils. Not that is a bad thing, though many farmers may disagree with you. The weevil, which is a subgroup of the beetle family, belongs to the Curculionoidea family. There is an estimated 60,000 species of these critters worldwide, making them the largest fauna family in the animal kingdom.
